In this program of art song spanning over 300 years, we will pursue the many facets of love: the happy budding of romance, moody and dark infatuation, loyalty to friend and nation, loss of love, and more. We will include composers such as Purcell, Handel, Mozart, Rachmaninoff, and Barber, as well as modern compositions by Mason, Skidmore, and Crane. Please join us for this one-time-only performance in a lovely acoustic! Children are welcome, free of charge. Recital will last approximately one hour.

Gabrielle Doran, soprano, is a busy performer on the Twin Cities choral scene. She has current membership in The Gregorian Singers and Border CrosSing (founding member), Bach Society of Minnesota, as well as cantor/soloist at the Cathedral of Saint Paul. She loves collaborating with new-music and experimental groups such as First Readings Project, 113, and Zeitgeist. As a soloist, she is always looking to explore and expand her repertoire in diverse and often challenging styles. Gabby lives in Saint Paul with her husband and four children, who support her musical pursuits with love and grace.

James Buxton is an award-winning harpist based in the Twin Cities. He is the former principal harpist of the Des Moines Metro Opera, as well as a McKnight Fellowship for Performing Musicians finalist. Jim is a versatile performer and improviser in classical, pops, jazz, and show tunes. Also a classically-trained vocalist, Jim currently works as a teacher and vocal coach alongside his many concert performances.
